About Your Instructor
Hi! My name is Carolyn and I am a mahjong player and teacher based in Jamaica Plain, MA. When I was a teenager, a friend’s mom played mahjong weekly with a large group of women. They played for money and were very competitive! My friend’s mom wanted to practice between these weekly games, so she taught us how to play and I’ve been playing ever since. And yes, those “practice” games were for quarters! What started as a personal love for the game turned into a mission: make mahjong accessible and fun for everyone in the community.
Teaching style? Relaxed, patient, and hands-on.
No experience needed — just curiosity and a willingness to have a good time.
